THE LORD IS A WARRIOR!
How I love Your Law! It is my meditation all the day. (Ps 119:97 NASB) I want to know Jesus more! So I am reading through His Word this year! God is faithful to reveal Himself to those who seek Him. (Pro 8:17; Deut 4:29; Jer 29:13) I was reading Exodus 15 yesterday and verse 3 jumped off the page. The Lord is a warrior; The Lord is His name. It reminded me of a song I have listened to over the years called ‘Warrior’ by Caedmon’s Call. The words of this song are a declaration of who Jesus is and His promises of protection, deliverance, strength and victory for His people! It is full of truth from the Word of God.
So I share with you the words of this song and the scriptures the Lord showed me. In these times we are in, full of trials, challenges, testing and even persecution, we, the church of Jesus Christ, need to be reminded and need to remind ourselves of who Jesus is and His promises to us according to His Word!
Be blessed and encouraged as you not only listen to this song and read the scriptures but as you put them into practice in your daily life. May the Lord reveal Himself more to you as you read His Word!
‘Warrior’ by Caedmon’s Call (you can listen to the song here)
The Lord is a warrior The Lord is mighty in battle The Lord is a warrior The Lord of hosts is He My Lord is a fortress He is a Sun and a Shield The Lord is a Deliverer To those who put their trust in Him He gives strength unto His people He guards His own with His Right Hand The Angel of the Lord camps around the ones who fear Him And delivers them The Lord of Hosts is He The Lord of Hosts is He
I hope you enjoy reading, receiving and living these scriptures!
The Lord is a warrior
Moses and the children of Israel sang a song of praise to God (Ex 15:1-19) for delivering them out of Egypt and acknowledged that God fought the battle.
The Lord is a warrior; The Lord is His name. (Ex 15:3 NASB)
Read about the final victory in Revelation 19:11-16. Jesus, Faithful and True, The Word of God, King of kings and Lord of lords, judges in righteousness and makes war!
And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. (Rev 19:11 NASB)
The Lord is mighty in battle
In response to the question, Who is the King of glory? the King, Jesus, answers, “The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle!”
This is the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face—even Jacob.
Lift up your heads, you gates, And be lifted up, you ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! Who is the King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. (Ps 24:6-8 NASB)
The Lord of hosts is He (The Lord of armies)
Jesus, the Lord of hosts (Yahweh Sabaoth), the Lord of all the angelic armies, the Commander of the army of the Lord (Josh 5:14), the Lord of heaven and earth (Acts 17:24-31), the King of glory is with us!!! Stop and think about that and a holy fear of the Lord should fall upon you!
Lift up your heads, you gates, And lift them up, you ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! Who is this King of glory? The Lord of armies, He is the King of glory. (Ps 24:9-10 NASB)
The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. (Ps 46:7 NLT)
It is the Lord of armies whom you are to regard as holy. And He shall be your fear, And He shall be your dread. (Isa 8:13 NASB)
The Lord is a fortress
Psalm 18 is a Psalm of David. A servant of the Lord. He spoke the words of this song on the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of his enemies and from the hand of Saul. In declaring verses one and two out loud you are declaring your love for the Lord and who He is!
I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. (Ps 18:1-2 NKJV)
He is a Sun and a Shield
I encourage you to read Revelation 21:9-26. There is no temple in the great city, the holy Jerusalem, the bride, the Lamb’s wife, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. No temple or created light is needed, because of the presence of God and the Lamb.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; He withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity. (Ps 84:11 NASB)
But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. (Rev 22-23 NKJV)
There are many scriptures declaring that the Lord is a shield. My favorite is Psalm 91:4.
He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. (Ps 91:4 NKJV)
The Lord is a Deliverer To those who put their trust in Him
The Lord promises to save, help and deliver those who put their trust in Him!
And the Lord shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, Because they trust in Him. (Ps 37:40 NKJV)
He gives strength unto His people
The Lord gives us strength. He blesses us with peace. He gives strength to the weary. I encourage you to read Psalm 40:28-31. Amazing promises to those who wait on the Lord, trust in the Lord.
The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace. (Ps 29:11 NKJV)
He gives strength to the weary, And to the one who lacks might He increases power. (Isa 40:29 NASB)
He guards His own with His Right Hand
We need to not fear! Why? Because God is with us. Why should we not be dismayed (discouraged, disheartened, distressed, faint-hearted)? Because God tells us that He is our God. God promises to strengthen you. He promises to help us. He promises to guard us with His own right hand! Amazing truths!
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. (Isa 41:10 NKJV)
The Angel of the Lord camps around the ones who fear Him and delivers them
Whether the angel of the Lord means the angels generally (2 Ki 6:14-18) or is referring to the captain of the Lord’s host (Josh 5:14-15) and the angel of the Lord’s presence (Isa 63:9), it is the angelic host which encamps around the faithful.
The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them. (Ps 34:7 NKJV)
In all their distress He was distressed, And the angel of His presence saved them; In His love and in His mercy He redeemed them, And He lifted them and carried them all the days of old. (Isa 63:9 NASB)
I pray that you will remember these truths and declare them often. I pray you will receive them and that they will get written on your heart. I pray that you will learn to live them. I leave you with this truth from Romans 8:31, “If God is for us, who can ever be against us?”
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (Rev 2:7 NKJV)
